'Wittering' On
Keith Richards outside Redlands via (Diet) Coke and Sympathy |
We went on a quick overnight trip to Chichester, Sussex on Monday to visit a friend. Before returning home we spent a couple of hours on the beach at nearby West Wittering.
West Wittering is home to Keith Richards of 'The Rolling Stones'. In February 1967, his 'quaint cottage', Redlands was the setting for the infamous drugbust also involving Mick Jagger and then girlfriend, Marianne Faithfull, who was discovered wearing nothing but a fur rug.

I didn't actually see the house but it was cool to be so close to a bit of rock history.
You can read more about the bust (and see lots more pictures) on (Diet) Coke and Sympathy.
Ah, those were the days, when too much wasn't enough. These days, my needs are simpler. I'd just settle for a "quaint cottage" like that.
ReplyDeleteHave a town called Redlands right in my area.
ReplyDeleteYou don't see such wonderful cottages like that over this side of the pond lol...
That's not really the type of house you'd expect to see a rock star living in...Angela Landsbury, yes but Keith Richards? I guess I'm tainted my MTV Cribs!
ReplyDeletehow very cool of you. how awesome is that cottage?!
