Wonderful Copenhagen II

So, I've sorted out some photos and am not sure where to start so I'll start at the beginning.

We arrived in Copenhagen well before our check in time (3pm) but the friendly staff at the 'Wakeup Copenhagen' let us check in early.  The hotel is new so everything was all sparkly and shiny.  There were egg-like chairs in the lobby and funky lighting but I was to find these are everywhere in Copenhagen.

After a spot of lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe which had the best posters - psychedelic Grateful Dead and Quicksilver Messenger Service in particular - we explored the Stroget which is a long pedestrian street through the city centre.  At the end we found a bench to rest on in Kongen's Nytorv (King's New Square):

'If you click on the image you can see that some 'crazy kids' have put a face mask on the statue - possibly to protect him from the construction work going on.

After checking the map, we decided on a canal cruise nearby and realised we'd stumbled upon Nyhavn (New Harbour) which is actually one of the oldest parts of the city and resplendent with its many coloured buildings along the waterfront.

The canal cruise tour was a welcome rest for our feet - little did I know that I would have sore feet the entire trip (but it was worth it)!

Hans Christian Andersen lived at Nyhavn - the middle building:

After the canal cruise we stumbled on a beautiful park where I needed another sit down.  There's a LOT of walking involved in Copenhagen (unless you hire a bicycle).

Down one of the cobbled streets I found an antique shop I desperately wanted to enter but it was shut.  I had spied something through the window...
