Vintage Click

Ages ago (March 2009), I posted about decorative concrete blocks and mentioned how the memory of my grandparents' concrete walls have stuck with me to this day. (Read that post here.)

Space Commander, from Atomic Living blog, posted today about concrete screens which reminded me that I now have a picture of one of my grandparents' walls to share.

I love this photo because my brother (the toddler) looks as though he's snatching his arm away and walking off in a huff from my dad. My mum and grandmother gaze upon him with that adoring look seemingly reserved for first born children/grandchildren (I'm a middle child and not bitter in the slightest).  ;)

Vintage Click posts have been few and far between since I didn't have any old photographs in my possession, but now my collection is growing, I hope to share them with you more regularly.

  1. Yup, that's the type I was trying to find photos of, on google, for Atomic Living =D

They were soooo common in the 50's and 60's.

  2. I've been looking for sources to buy these in Northern Virginia, but no luck so far. Sometimes they're referred to as screen block. This website in Las Vegas has some good photos and information http://veryvintagevegas.com/category/decorative-concrete-block-designs/
